Between dunes and sea
Surroundings Roompot Strandhuisjes Julianadorp
For an evening stroll along the shore, with a glorious sunset as your backdrop, all you have to do is step out of your accommodation - and maybe visit one of the beach pavilions on the way. In Julianadorp itself, there are several restaurants and shops ready to welcome you for dining and souvenir shopping. This region is also known for its vast flower fields, which are picture-perfect in spring. Other attractions include the Napoleonic Fort Kijkduin, the Naval Museum, and the unspoilt nature reserves nearby.
North Holland dune area
Close to the park, you will find the North Holland dune landscape, rich in hiking and bike trails. Take your bike and glide between the sea pines and beach grass in the dunes. And be amazed by the foxes and rabbits.
Fort Kijkduin
Fort Kijkduin was built under Napoleon’s orders in 1811, and history plays a central role here. All the underground passageways and exciting rooms can be viewed. You can also visit the North Sea aquarium featuring marine life from the area.
Het Zwanenwater nature reserve
Het Zwanenwater is the region’s gem. Here you can enjoy the orchids in full bloom around the dune lake in June. Walk through a beautifully varied dune area, and don't forget to visit one of the observation huts.
Marine museum
At the museum, you will discover much of the history of the Dutch Navy. You will see uniforms, weapons and learn about the maritime heroes of the past. Climb aboard the museum ships and look through the periscope of the Tonijn submarine.
Callantsoog
One of the most historic seaside resorts on the Dutch coast. The beach is very clean, as evidenced by the blue flag! Ideal for a day of sunbathing in the summer or a stroll in the winter.
De KlimVallei climbing park
Looking for a challenge? There are four spectacular climbing courses, graded by difficulty and height. Want to stay at 4 to 6 metres, or do you dare to brave the 8-metre course? Round it off with one of the ziplines. Wonderful for all ages.
Floratuin Julianadorp
A wonderful range of exclusive and new bulbs can be viewed in this vibrant 7,000 m² show garden. You can take a stroll through the show garden and enjoy the bulbs in bloom, and even select some bulbs to take home with you.
Alkmaar cheese market
View, smell and taste the wide range of cheese in the Dutch Cheese Capital. For centuries, the Cheese Market has been held on Friday mornings from March to September. Stroll past the shops and relax on a terrace for a nice drink.
Colourful bulb fields
Those heading to North Holland in April or May will experience an especially colourful scene. The region has numerous bulb fields where crocuses, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips bloom beautifully during spring. A Dutch festival of colour.
Schagen
The village center is adorned with narrow shopping streets and a market square with always something going on. And did you know Schagen lies on a hill? It's worth a visit, as are the marinas.
De Helderse Vallei
Take a stroll in the dunes and forests. Fancy letting off steam in the playground, or feeding the goats? De Helderse Vallei visitor centre contains picnic baskets for taking with you into nature.
The Goldfish Play Park
A fun-filled day of outdoor activities! From pedalos to air trampoline jumping, there's something for everyone. Those who follow the Land van Fluwel circuit will also learn about the history of the tulip bulb.
