Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales
Surrounded by natural beauty
Surroundings Aysgarth
Centrally located, within a National Park, and with areas of natural beauty radiating out from it, Aysgarth is perfectly placed to reach as many of England's natural wonders as possible - from protected landscapes and wildlife-rich nature reserves, to tumbling waterfalls and underground cave systems. Plus, of course, plenty of family attractions!
Ingleborough Cave
Laying 500 metres below ground, Ingleborough Cave is one of three spectacular show caves in the area, and is easy to explore via a self-guided tour thanks to the level footpaths and lighting. Outside, there are also woodland trails and a cafe. The perfect day out for all the family - including canine companions!
Buttertubs Pass
It's not very often that a road makes it into a list of top attractions, but Buttertubs Pass is well worth weaving into your day trip route. Crossing high moorland between Wensleydale and Swaledale, it showcases the Yorkshire Dales scenery at its most spectacular. If you happen to be on a motorcycling holiday, it'll be a particular highlight.
Alfresco Adventures
Caving, stand-up paddleboarding, archery, kayaking, canoeing, gorge walking and ghyll scrambling - it's all available with Alfresco Adventures! The perfect option for an active holiday or for thrill seekers.
Aysgarth Falls
The magical three-stepped Aysgarth waterfall (which is particularly dramatic after heavy rainfall) has inspired poets, artists... and plenty of visitors to the area! And it's easy to see why. Follow the winding paths through the woodland nature reserve that runs alongside the falls, and let yourself be enchanted.
Wensleydale Creamery
Deliciously creamy and crumbly, Wensleydale Cheese is a local speciality, with cheese having been made in the area for 1000 years. Visit the Wensleydale Creamery for an interactive journey through the history of cheese-making in the Dales, watch the process and buy a souvenir!
Wensleydale Railway
A great way to get to know the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales - climb aboard a heritage diesel train and watch the scenery roll by as you travel between historic stations, with free guided tours by costumed living history interpreters. Two of the stations have cosy tea rooms.
The Forbidden Corner
At this unique family attraction, you'll navigate your way around a labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, towers, follies and surprises in the beautiful gardens of the Tupgill Park Estate - prepare to be amazed! A cafe and gift shop are also on-site.
